Create a site-to-site VPN network or allow pptp access for your workers.
Providing access to the server is easily accomplished via the remote access tools that are available to the administrator. Secure, encrypted VPN connections provide "virtual" connections to the PowerElf server.
Workers can then access their own workspace on the server easily using software already found on their Windows® 9x/2000/XP or Apple OS/X computers.
There are NO user licensing charges to use the VPN features and NO client software to install.
Virtual Private Networks - Companies can use the PowerElf Internet server appliance to allow connections to the network via a secure 128bit encrypted VPN connection. The PowerElf supports two types of VPN connections:
- PPTP is used to establish a connection from a computer to the PowerElf via the Internet. Employees can then access the server as if they were connected via the office LAN.
- IPSec is used to securely connect two or more PowerElf server appliances together to create one large, secure network. Each server acts as a VPN appliance for each network.
SSH (Secure Shell) - SSH is used by the administrator to gain access to the administrative console or the command console. Advanced diagnosis can be performed from the command prompt, securely. An encrypted tunnel is created between the client computer and the PowerElf server. This creates a safe environment for administration.
FTP - An FTP server is available on the PowerElf. FTP is a common method of moving files between two Internet sites. Files can be stored and retrieved using this protocol. The administrator can control who has access to what particular folder via accounts/passwords.
Telnet - Telnet access can be used by the administrator to gain access to the administrative console. This service is provided as a courtesy, but SSH is recommended.
